The first NATURANCE Festival is set to take place on May 23-24, 2024, in Laxenburg, Austria.

The festival aims to bring together various communities involved in climate risk assessment, policy analysis, financial innovation, and advocacy for nature-based solutions. Its objectives include:

  • Showcasing the advancements made in innovative financial instruments and the development of business cases centered around nature-based solutions.
  • Encouraging critical engagement and facilitating in-depth discussions and analyses of existing evidence to identify potential avenues for future financial laboratories.
  • Informing policy dialogues and contributing to increased awareness of the essential needs and existing strategies to foster a nature-positive economy.
  • Providing a platform for related initiatives and projects in the realm of nature-based solutions to share their successes and ongoing research, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

 NATURANCE is a 3.5-year Horizon Europe project which examines the technical, financial and operational feasibility and performance of solutions built on a combination of disaster risk financing and Nature-based solutions investments. The ultimate goal of the project is to encourage adoption of jointly elaborated equity principles, performance metrics and recommended approaches to analysis and design in accordance with the EU framework for sustainable finance and the Just Transition Mechanism.
