Webinar | From Evidence to Investment: What Makes Nature‑based Solutions Finance‑Relevant?
How can Nature‑based Solutions become relevant for real financial decision‑making?
This webinar brings together representatives from insurance, banking, asset management, and corporate finance to engage directly with recent research and evidence on the financing and risk‑reduction potential of Nature‑based Solutions (NbS).
It is designed as a market‑oriented dialogue, where selected findings from Invest4Nature, in particular on unlocking private capital and demand and supply dynamics in NbS markets, are presented as starting points for discussion. These insights will be complemented by perspectives from the Nature‑3B project, introducing their work on nature credits schemes as a potential mechanism to make nature‑related impacts more auditable and decision‑relevant for finance.
Rather than presenting research in isolation, the session invites financial practitioners to critically reflect on these findings from a practical perspective. The panel discussion will explore:
- which elements are already useful and applicable in underwriting, lending, and investment decisions,
- where findings align or do not align with current market realities, and
- what is still needed to translate NbS‑related evidence into bankable, investable and scalable propositions.
At the core of the discussion is the question of relevance:
Which insights, data types, and approaches truly matter for financial actors when assessing risk, return, and impact?
Participants will gain a concise overview of how NbS are beginning to enter financial decision‑making, alongside candid reflections from practitioners on data gaps, structural barriers, and enabling conditions. At the same time, the session provides a space to identify concrete next steps: from improved metrics and standards to clearer revenue models and risk frameworks, that could support broader uptake of NbS within the financial sector.
